1.    CALL TO ORDER

The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

2.    MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETINGS

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council held on July 11, 2011, be approved.

COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Minutes of the Committee of the Whole held on July 8, 2011, be approved.

3.    SHORE ROAD ALLOWANCE

SHORE ROAD ALLOWANCE APPLICATION 2011-8
Applicant:  Jeffrey Warren & Kelly Livingstone

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That Carling Council agree to open a file, SRA 2011- being an application to close and convey shore road allowance in front of Plan M171 REM Lot 254, Pt REM PCL 19324 SS, and that the shore road allowance to be closed and conveyed be declared surplus pursuant to Property Disposal By-law No. 95-10.  Applicants:  Jeffrey Warren & Kelly Livingstone, 31 Ridgeway Dr.

4.    REPORT OF THE CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Council receives the Reports of the Chief Administrative Officer, as distributed.

5.    REPORTS OF COMMITTEES

Councillor Murphy reported on the status of the CEO recruitment for the Parry Sound Library.

Councillor Gordon reported on the Parry Sound Planning Board and the clearing of backlogged files. Discussion took place on the future of the Board and its relevance.

Mayor Harrison reported on the Industrial Park and its future management, the recent Association meetings he attended and the upcoming fundraising events for the WPSHC at Dillon Cove Marina and for Monica Fritch.

6.    CORRESPONDENCE

CANADORE COLLEGE

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Council give the Town of Parry Sound a financial donation of $15,000 spread out over three years to help offset the capital costs for the new facility.

COUNCIL CORRESPONDENCE

Seconded by Councillor Larson

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Council receives the July 2011 Council Correspondence listing.

Carried.

BELVEDERE HEIGHTS HOME FOR THE AGED

Council directed staff to send a letter indicating that Mayor Harrison and Councillors Murphy and Konoval will attend the annual meeting on September 15.

7.    OTHER BUSINESS

Councillor Gordon asked about the status of the painted line on Snug Harbour Road. The CAO said that he would speak to the Public Works Supervisor and send a response to Council.

Councillor Gordon asked several questions about the fire boat and the Mayor responded on behalf of the Fire Chief.

CARLING FARMERS’ MARKET THANKSGIVING CHARITY EVENT,
OCTOBER 8, 2011

Council directed staff to waive the rental fee for the event and asked staff to post the event on the Township website.

8.    CONFIRMING BY-LAW

2011-29                        Moved by Councillor Gordon                                            Seconded by Councillor Murphy

THAT By-Law Number 2011-29, being a Confirming By-Law, be read and finally passed in Open Council this 8th day of August, 2011.

9.    ADJOURNMENT

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Regular Meeting of Council be adjourned at 7:24 p.m.
