1.         CALL TO ORDER

2.         CLOSED MEETING

                                             Seconded by Councillor Gordon

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Committee of the Whole move into a CLOSED MEETING at 10:00 a.m., pursuant to Section 239(2) of the Municipal Act, 2001,S.O. 2001, c.25, as amended to deal with legal matters regarding cottage rentals and personnel matters.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Council move out of a CLOSED MEETING at 12:30 p.m.

3.         ALVES BOATHOUSES – DRAFT LICENSE OF OCCUPATION

Staff reviewed with Council the draft license of occupation agreement for the Alves Bay boathouses and docks.

4.         GREG CLAUSIN AND BRAD LAKING

TULLOCH ENGINEERING – COMMUNITY SAFETY ZONES

Greg Clausin spoke to Council about the purpose of traffic calming as well as his years of experience with traffic calming measures.

He relayed to Council that he and Mr Laking conducted an examination of the roadway and observed the area of concern, which is the portion of the road that runs through the resorts. He reviewed with Council his recommendations, which included replacement of the speed bumps with speed humps, increased signage (“Traffic Calmed Neighbourhood”) and raised textured pedestrian crosswalk zones in key pedestrian crossing areas.

Council agreed with the recommendation from Tulloch that speed bumps are not an appropriate traffic calming solution for this area and directed staff to remove the speed bumps.

 

5.         FUTURE OF FIRE HALL/OLD MUNICIPAL OFFICE/PUBLIC WORKS BUILDING

Staff reported on the various options on utilizing the existing fire hall and old public works department building for a possible new fire hall(s).

Council directed staff to get costs on the various options and begin matter to September Committee for further review.

           

6.         TOM MAHOOD AND CAROL BONAZZA – READ DOCK AGREEMENT

 

Staff reported to Council on the approval process for the dock agreement with the Reads, included the objections received from the neighbours. Council directed staff to rescind the dock agreement with the Reads.



7.         CENTURY UNITED CHURCH – HERITAGE SITE

Councillor Konoval reported that the Century United Church is no longer in use due to the dilapidated state of the structure, mainly due to mold. The church board members are planning on demolishing the building and have asked if Council is interested in acquiring the property.

Council expressed that they were not interested.

8.         GREAT LAKES ST. LAWRENCE CITIES INITIATIVE

            DEEP GEOLOGIC REPOSITORY

Council agreed on a neutral position on this matter and directed staff to advise the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Cities Initiative of their position.

9.         CLOSED MEETING

                                                            Seconded by Councillor Gordon

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Committee of the Whole move into a CLOSED MEETING at 2:50 p.m., pursuant to Section 239(2) of the Municipal Act, 2001,S.O. 2001, c.25, as amended to deal with legal and matters regarding Alves Boathouses.
