1.         CALL TO ORDER

                 The Mayor called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.

 

2.         BAYVIEW SUBDIVISION BLOCKS – PROPOSED DOCKS

Doug Vock reviewed with the Committee the final proposal from the Bayview Association for the extra docks being placed on the Township shore road allowances that abut a number of blocks owned by the Association. The Committee agreed to the proposal as submitted, a $50.00 annual fee for the agreement and that the Association be responsible for all legal fees.

 

3.         WATER ACCESS SITES – FLOAT PLANES

Doug Vock presented a new By-law to regulate public parks and public water access facilities within the Township. Mr. Vock’s recommended that Council amend the existing bylaw by prohibiting float planes from using our facilities, to the new docking time limits on our new docking facilities and to prohibit the parking of detached trailers. The Committee agreed to all amendments and directed staff to bring the by-law forward to the next Council meeting.

 

4.         CAROLYN KEARNS – STRATEGIC PLAN

Carolyn Kearns, a private consultant, presented to Council the Strategic Planning consultation practice. Ms. Kearns reviewed with Council, her proposed approach to the process, the what, why and how of strategic planning and the timing and budget process.

The matter will be brought forward to the July Committee meeting for discussion.

 

5.         COMMUNITY SAFETY ZONES

Joe Ryman spoke to council about the need for Community Safety Zones in the Township and recommended East Carling Bay Rd. and Bayview Dr. as suggested locations.

 

6.         JONES LIGHTHOUSE

Council discussed the proposal by Jackie Ford for the use of the Jones Lighthouse based on the concept that has been utilized in England for such historical features. Council was prepared to support the protection of the lighthouse but not endorse anyone particular submission at this point and time. Input from relevant Cottage Associations and neighbouring property owners would be sought before any formal endorsement would be forthcoming.

 

7.         CLOSED SESSION

 

                        Moved by Councillor Murphy

                                    Seconded by Councillor Larson

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Council move into a closed meeting at 1:05 p.m. to discuss legal matters dealing with the REDAC.

 

                                    Carried.

 

8.         OPEN MEETING

                       Moved by Councillor Murphy

                                    Seconded by Councillor Gordon

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Council move into an open meeting at 1:1 p.m.
